SEYMOUR BERNSTEIN, internationally known writer, composer, teacher, and lecturer, studied with such notable musicians as Alexander Brailowsky, Sir Clifford Curzon, Jan Gorbaty, and Nadia Boulanger, , both in this country and in Europe. His concert career has taken him to Asia, Europe, and throughout the Americas, where he has appeared in solo recitals and as guest artist with orchestras and chamber music groups. Among his publications are, With Your Own Two Hands, Monsters and Angels—Surviving a Career in Music, 20 Lessons in Keyboard Choreography, and Musi-Physi-Cality, and scores of piano works. MANDUCA MUSIC PUBLISHING distributes all of his publications. One of the most sought after clinicians in this country and abroad, Seymour Bernstein maintains a private studio in New York City, and is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Music and Music Education at New York University.
MELODY BOBER has been active in music education for over 30 years. She graduated from the University of Illinois and received her masters degree from Minnesota State University. Her background includes middle school through university level teaching, church musician, and private piano teacher. Currently, Melody operates a large studio of piano students, composes and conducts workshops across the country. She and her husband Jeff, reside near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and enjoy spending time with their daughter Sarah, Jason, and precious granddaughter Evelyn Grace.
BRIAN CHUNG is Senior Vice President of Kawai America Corporation, president of the Piano Manufacturers Association International, chair of the MTNA Foundation Fund Development Committee and a 2004 MTNA Foundation Fellow. He is coauthor (with Dennis Thurmond) of Improvisation at the Piano: A Systematic Approach for the Classically Trained Pianist and creator of Expressions of Faith, a collection of sacred arrangements just released by Alfred Publishing.
BARBARA KREADER is a Keyboard Consultant for Educational Keyboard Publications to the Hal Leonard Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ms.. Kreader has taught piano for 35 years. A faculty member of Northwestern University’s Division of Preparatory Music from 1974 - 1985, she also maintained an independent studio in Evanston, Illinois where she continues to teach 45 students. A graduate of Northwestern University, Kreader earned a M.M. in piano performance in 1974 studying piano with Laurence Davis and piano pedagogy with Frances Larimer. The editor of Clavier magazine from 1982 – 1988, Kreader has published articles in Clavier, The Piano Quarterly, and Keyboard Companion. She joined Hal Leonard in 1989. Ms. Kreader has given workshops for the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library in over 130 cities in the United States, Canada, Australia, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
DREW MAYS received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Alabama in 1982. He continued his studies at the Conservatory for Music in Hanover, Germany; then moved to New York City and began a Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music. His Master’s degree was completed at the University of Alabama 1987. After his musical training, Dr. Mays attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine from 1987 until 1991. Currently he practices in Birmingham with a faculty appointment at UAB within the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital. He also has a private clinical practice. Dr. Mays returned to playing the piano in 2002 after a 15-year absence. In 2007, he was awarded first prize in the Van Cliburn International Competition for Outstanding Amateurs. Since winning the Van Cliburn competition, he has played across the country,
PEGGY MORALES is a professional musician, adjudicator, music educator and music technology specialist. She is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Music Education, Elementary and Secondary, Vocal and Instrumental. Her received her Masters in Piano Performance from the University of Denver. She studied piano with Dr. David Karp, Jackson Berkeley and jazz piano in New York City with Harold Danko. Always interested in music technology and innovations for music education, Peggy works with ROMEO MUSIC in Dallas, TX. Their quest of bringing music technology to music educators along with hands-on classes to insure success is paramount As a music retail company, ROMEO MUSIC provides the personal service and relationship of educators helping educators in music technology.
MONA REJINO, teacher, adjudicator, composer and arranger, is coauthor of the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library. She has taught privately for over 20 years and is currently teaching at the Hockaday School in Dallas. Ms. Rejino Holds a B.M. from West Texas State University and a M.M. from the University of North Texas in Piano Performance. As a Hal Leonard clinician, Ms. Rejino has presented workshops at national and state conventions throughout the country. Her newest works, Contemporary Hits and American Sonatina are published by Hal Leonard Corporation.
FREDRICA PHILLIPS received both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music. Her principal teachers have included Evelyn Prior, Frank Glazer, and Ozan Marsh. At the Eastman School, Ms. Phillips was awarded the prestigious Performer’s Certificate, and she was a winner of Eastman’s concerto competition. As the winner of the 1975 Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition, she was heard in recital at Carnegie Recital Hall. She has given recitals and performed concertos with orchestras in Rochester, New York City, Dallas, Chicago, and other cities. Recent performances include the McKinney Musical Arts Society and the Dallas Public Library Mu Phi Epsilon Concert Series. Ms. Phillips maintains a private piano studio in Plano, Texas.
JULIE ROMEO, is a professional musician, adjudicator, composer, music educator and music technology specialist. She is a graduate of Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. Julie has studied with Jackson Berkeley, Wanda Paul, and Robert Weirich. During the 80s Julie first began exploring the applications of music technology products with her private piano students. Her music technology expertise took her to Brook Mays Music Company where she served as Vice President of Market Development from 1993 – 2006. At Brook Mays she further developed a team of Technology Specialists introducing music technology and it’s uses to music educators throughout the country. On August 14 , 2006 Julie launched ROMEO MUSIC based in Dallas, TX. Along with her team of Technology Specialists, ROMEO MUSIC continues to serve the music education community by providing the latest innovations and educational applications of music technology.
